October 21, 2019 -THEY improv's Comedy With a Cause Presents: Reading is Fun and We Bring Da' Mental on November 15th at 8pm in Jackson, Mississippi!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THEY improv's Comedy With a Cause Presents: Reading Is Fun and We Bring Da' Mental on November 15th in Jackson, MS. In conjunction with The Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) and their secular program "Our Reading Family" and their efforts. We are proud to help raise awareness and funds for fighting illiteracy in, and around, Jackson.
The goals of the Our Reading Family program are to foster a positive regard for literacy, to build on established literary skills, to introduce new ways to engage with literacy, and to improv skills through
writing workshops and parent resource sessions.
"We plan on having a program of comedy that will involve reading and writing skills that will have people laughing while benefiting the community," says THEY improv's Director Todd Rice. "That's what THEY are all about. It's never about us, it's about what THEY need!"
Come enjoy a night that will help your neighbors.
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), ranked the state of Mississippi 50th in basic literacy. We consider that unacceptable and that it is up to all of us to do what we can to help.
None of the proceeds are being kept by THEY improv. "We're just happy to help. We're doing our part, as should we all."
THEY improv mostly performs for major corporate clients and for private events with a collection of improv comedy, game shows and murder mystery dinners. This is a rare opportunity to see what only corporations normally get to enjoy as we try to raise the level of literacy in the state.
