THEY improv joins with Majic 102.7 and Laughing Gas to benefit the Miami Children's Hospital "Radio Lollipop" at the Miami Improv on Wednesday, April 5th.
Coconut Grove, FL: THEY improv, Broward County's improv troupe, will perform to benefit the Miami Children's Hospital "Radio Lollipop" program at the world famous Miami Improv on Wednesday, April 5th. The doors open at 7pm with entertainment and silent auction leading up to the live performance beginning at 8pm. This rare jaunt into Miami-Dade County will also feature appearances by Laughing Gas and WMXJ Majic 102.7 on-air personality Joe Johnson.
"Our '
Comedy With a Cause' program has successfully raised a lot of money for charity while bringing top-notch performances to South Florida audiences," said THEY Director Todd Rice. "Radio Lollipop has provided humor and enjoyment for audiences of children at the hospital that truly need to be entertained the most. We're happy to help any way we can."
Radio Lollipop believes in the healing power of play, having begun in 1978 at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children in Surrey England. Since it's beginning, the program has expanded to Australia, New Zealand, and of course the United States. More information on Radio Lollipop is available on their website. On August 14th, 1996, Miami Children's became the first hospital in the United States to host a Radio Lollipop.
THEY improv continues to change the face of Comedy in South Florida by bringing this show together at the Miami Improv for this worthwhile event, this time with the help of Majic 102.7. The station is a valuable member of this effort and has offered an extreme amount of support for the cause.
"Majic 102.7 has a long history of helping children in need," said THEY Director Todd Rice. "Through the Majic Children's Fund and other ways, we're happy to work with another organization genuinely interested in being a positive contributor to the community around us."
In addition to the comedy show, there will also be a silent auction of very impressive donated items that will help raise money for the organization.
THEY improv was selected at the ImprovMiami Prizes 2005 as the Best Short Form Troupe for Broward County. Laughing Gas won the award for the Best Short Form Troupe for Miami-Dade County. The two troupes come together for this rare double appearance bringing the best of South Florida under one roof at the Miami Improv.
Each THEY improv show is based on audience suggestions, so there can never be the same show twice. Every show is a unique experience and is shared only among those in attendance.
