August 5, 2006: Midnight Madness - THEY have STD's by Travis Donald
Sick of generic, PG-13 redneck jokes? Haven't studied your urban dictionary enough to comprehend BET's 'Comic View'? Wake up; the frustratingly-named THEY improv troupe is coming at your funny bone with a the equivalent of a comedic ninja sword -- more than a dozen of South Florida's freshest stand-up acts. THEY kick off the first Comedy Midnight Madness at the Hollywood Playhouse (2640 Washington St., Hollywood), starting at the witching hour on Saturday. The 90-minute set features THEY doing their reputable improv shtick -- think Whose Line Is It Anyway? without the FCC. After THEY perform, THEY invite you to stick around and catch STD's (that's another comedy troupe- we think). In the spirit of improvisation, tickets cost $5 plus the value of one roll of a six-sided die (i.e., between $6 and $11).

About THEY improv
THEY improv is an informal group of actors getting together and performing improv, often for charities and always for the betterment of everyone. For now there is no corporate structure and no financial relationship, with their first several performances to be done for charities and the money never even being seen by the troupe. Marketing funds and efforts will either be donated by the members or provided by the charities themselves.
