October 17, 2005 - THEY improv and STD's are "Hunkerin' Down" on Saturday, November 12th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THEY improv and STD's are "Hunkerin' Down" on Saturday, November 12th.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL: THEY improv, Fort Lauderdale's improv troupe, will join with STD's in the world premier of "Hunkerin' Down", an improvised one-act play centered around coping with the passing of a hurricane.

Besides the featured improvised one-act comedic play, as a bonus, there will be a performance of Chicago-style long form improv by Child's Play, a celebrated troupe of student actors ranging in ages between 14-16. The 90 minute show will benefit Child's Play to help fund their upcoming trip to the Gainesville Improv Festival.

THEY continue to change the face of Comedy in South Florida with this special "Hunkerin' Down" show with STD's and Child's Play at the Hollywood Playhouse.

"Everyone in the area has had this shared experience that is unique to South Florida," said Todd Rice. "Hunkerin' Down disrupts everyone's routine. We're forced to be with friends and neighbors and join them in fellowship and beer. Lots and lots of beer."

"We've already run out of storm names and the season isn't finished with us yet," said cast member Sam DeLima. "It seems that every year now we're Hunkerin' Down for the entire season, glued to NBC 6 Weather Plus and with storm shutters already hung up. We all need some Hurricane Comic Relief, and this show will provide it."

Audience members are encouraged to bring a picture of them "Hunkerin' Down" during a storm, and that will be considered a $3 donation (a $10 donation is suggested for attendees). "We're going to collect these photos and use them in a collage to put up on our wall," said Todd Rice. "We want something that shows everyone just how real it is, and the reality of it is what people recognize and find funny."

Each THEY improv show is based on audience suggestions, so there can never be the same show twice. Every show is a unique experience and is shared only among those in attendance.

Every THEY improv show also benefits local charities.

The suggested donation is $10 with all money going directly to Child's Play to help fund their trip to the Gainesville Improv Festival. There is no age restriction and no 2 drink minimum for this show and there may be some adult content.

WE HAVE SOME VIDEO CLIPS AVAILABLE

Below are a few video clips. Our events are private, for the most part. This makes bringing cameras inappropriate. So we actually have very few. Some are professional, and others on the list are by request from specific parties. We would be glad to discuss this with you if you like.

THEY improv performed a murder mystery dinner for Bravo TV's Real Housewives of New York. This is a video from part of the show:
