Boston comedians have a great
history. Having developed separately from the Los Angeles and
New York comedy scenes, Boston created its own unique flavor.
Each comedian would emphasize their own unique approach to standup
and methods of making people laugh.
While THEY improv is focused on bringing the best and the brightest of improvisational comedy to your corporate event, this page has been developed to remember those who came before us.
Here we pay homage to many of the great Boston comedians that have graced Boston area audiences with their stand-up prowess.
Lenny Clarke - best known now for Rescue Me on FX, he was the emcee for Ding Ho's open mic night.
Barry Crimmons - homeless pioneer of Ding Ho's on Inman Square - Chinese food and comedy, makes sense to me!
Paul D'Angelo - Boston's Best Comedian for 1994 and 1995 according to Boston Magazine
Bobcat Goldthwait - way off the wall
DJ Hazard - One of the founders of the Ding Ho Club
Denis Leary - becoming the most associated with Boston comedy by others, he is also the founder of the Leary Firefighters Foundation
Jim McCue - Founder of The Boston Comedy and Movie Festival
Conan O'Brien - Host of Late Night
Paula Poundstone - made it big
Jimmy Tingle - formerly the daytime bartender at Ding Ho's and a great stand-up
Steven Wright - Led the way for Boston on the Johnny Carson show
